It seems as if supercar owners are always trying to one-up each other with the latest over-the-top body wraps. Being that wraps go over the original paint and do not damage the collector value of a supercar, has only encouraged wealthy people to create the most ridiculous paint schemes possible. Pictured above is a brilliant example of a Ferrari 458 Italia spotted in Cannes, dressed out in an eye-catching diamond wrap. Definitely this makes an already hard not to notice car even harder not to notice. For those that feel the Italia by itself just doesn’t demand enough attention, now have other options. The silver base color under the sparkles is a perfect match for the Ferrari red brake calipers and creates a brilliant contrast. All-in-all, this is a wonderful wrap that definitely demands to be noticed.
Last weekend in Pebble Beach, Ferrari unveiled a new Ferrari 458 Speciale drop top to a private audience. This new variant of the Ferrari 458 Italia combines the weight reduction and power benefits of the 600 horsepower Ferrari 458 Speciale with the coolness of a convertible. Currently the Italia is the only 458 sibling to offer a topless option. This vehicle is currently nameless and rumored to only have a production run of 458 examples. Ferrari expects to debut the topless Speciale to the word at the Paris Motor Show in October, hopefully by then it will have a name.
A recent video posted by WorldSupercars shows a Ferrari 458 Speciale running loose on the streets of Monaco with a custom exhaust outfitted by Capristo. The Capristo exhaust gives this supercar and extra special exhaust note, especially through Monaco’s famous tunnel that is a key part of the track during the running of the Grand Prix of Monaco.
It’s not every day that you get to witness a Ferrari 599 GTB attempting to drift around a collection of luxury vehicles that includes a blue Rolls-Royce Ghost, no less than two Ferrari 458 Italias, the new Corvette Stingray and several Ferrari Californias.
That is just the case for these to aspiring stunters who put their amateur talents on display at what appears to be the roof of a parking garage in the United Arab Emirates. The two were thoughtful enough to rig the 599 GTB with cameras that give us views from all angles inside and outside the car.
The 570 hp 458 Italia is powered by a high revving 4.5l V8 that is mated to Ferrari’s new dual clutch 7 speed paddle shift gearbox. This new engine and gearbox combination rocket ships the 458 from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and lets the 458 achieve a top speed of 202 mph. Continue reading “Ferrari 458 Italia” »
