FERRARI IS RUMORED TO BE DEVELOPING A NEXT-GEN V6 TURBO ENGINE
There appear to be a lot of changes underway at Ferrari that seem to show the Prancing Horse taking a new direction from what up to this point has always been naturally aspirated engines. We have already seen evidence of this attitude shift in Ferrari’s newest flagship supercar, the LaFerrari and the release of the California-T. Car Magazine is reporting that an inside source claims that Ferrari is developing a new twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine that is “designed to be long-term, street-legal and affordable in big growth markets such as China.” Don’t let the fact that we are talking about a V6 engine fool you, the inside source states that the power output from the twin-turbo V6 will be close to 600 hp. Release date on this new engine is not expect until the 458 is completely replaced in 2019. Ferrari is currently preparing a twin-turbo variant of the Ferrari 458 to make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
