Fast and the Furious star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the physically largest guys in Hollywood. The upside to this is endless roles in action movies, the downside is that being this big makes it hard to fit into a Ferrari. The Rock recently posted this picture and caption to his Facebook page:
“570 horse power of brilliant Italian engineering + 260lbs of Samoan Black Silverback = another fine ride I don’t fit in. #Ferrari458 Why I’m a pick up truck man”
Most people would consider Ferrari ownership as being a special experience reserved for those rich few who can afford such luxury. Most would imagine that these Ferrari owners walked into a dealership and purchased the supercar of their dreams. Not the case for Eric Clapton, who had Ferrari custom make a 1 of 1 supercar, the Ferrari SP12 EC.
Designed by the Ferrari Style Centre in collaboration with Pininfarina and Maranello’s most senior engineers, the SP12 EC is a custom one-off of the Ferrari 458 Italia with design styles influenced by Eric Clapton’s favoriate Ferrari, the Ferrari flat-12 BB 512i of the late 70s and early 80s, of which Clapton owns at least three examples. The musician reportedly wanted his custom order to include a 6.0-liter V12 Ferrari engine, after some discussion between Clapton and the Special Ferrari team, the decision was made to go with the standard engine used in the Ferrari 458 Italia. Evidence of Clapton’s desire to have a V12 can be seen in the name SP12 EC (Special Production 12 cylinders, Eric Clapton). Body modifications made to resemble the Ferrari 512 include a Boxer-like rear deck, lower trim and for some reason, Enzo headlights! The price tag on this custom piece is not exactly cheap, while Ferrari will not disclose the actual price of sale; the SP12 EC is rumored to have cost Clapton $4.8 million.
Throughout the years many people have tried to replicate a Ferrari, normally by assembling a kit onto a Pontiac Fiero or maybe even a Toyota MR2, never have we seen a Ferrari made out of Cardboard! French artist Bendetto Bufalino actually took the time to construct what appears to be a mid 1980s Ferrari Testarossa out of cardboard and attached this Ferrari “clone” shell to the top of his Citroen Aixam city car.
It appears that this Ferrari costume fits like a glove and is completely functional in traffic. The windows appear to be a little restricted, not sure that the visibility is any worse than what is on a real Testerossa. Not sure if anyone in traffic is actually fooled by this attempt, we definitely give him credit for creativity. When it comes to performance, no amount of cardboard in the world is going to change that fact that his Aixam city car only goes 45 mph.
This is not Bufalino’s first venture into car creativity; previous works of art have included putting a Renault Clio on its roof to make a tree planter and using a VW Golf as a ping pong table.
Las Vegas nightclub promoter Jay Farber became the World Series of Poker runner-up by finishing second in the main event. Even though Farber did not win the $8,400,000 first place prize, he did walk away with a respectable $5,174,357 by beating out a field of 6,352 players at Rio hotel and casino. When asked what he will be spending his $5.2 million on, Farber says that he is going to be buying a Ferrari, an Aston Martin, and a house, not bad choices at all!
Less than 10 days after saying that he was looking to buy a Ferrari and an Aston Martin, Farber came out to Exotics Racing in Las Vegas to drive a Ferrari 458 Italia on the Exotics Racing 1.2 mile road course. Faber may have been doing a little window shopping at the Exotics Racing Experience with his close friends Dan Bilzerian, Tim “Skrape” Katz, Jordan McDonald and Brad Tate. After receiving a block of instructions from the Exotics Racing driving instructors, Faber took the 458 Italia out for 5 laps. Farber and his friends had so much fun at Exotics Racing that they even hung out longer to take a driftcar ride along in a Corvette Z06!
The Exotics Racing Ferrari 458 Italia that Faber drove is a rear-wheel drive V-8 capable of producing 560 horsepower and is Ferrari’s first naturally aspirated direct fuel injection mid-engine car that delivers a 0-60 in less than 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 202 mph. The 458 Italia is the first volume production Ferrari to break the 200 mph mark. Even though Farber only drove the 458 Italia while he was at the track, Exotics Racing does have the Aston Martin V8 Vantage available to be driven. Makes us wonder if He’ll be back to drive to the Vantage next!
Las Vegas nightclub promoter Jay Farber became the World Series of Poker runner-up by finishing second in the main event last week. Even though Farber did not win the diamond-crusted championship bracelet or the $8,400,000 first place prize, he did walk away with a respectable $5,174,357. The 29 year old Farber, who had never won a major poker event, beat out a field of 6,352 entrants over seven days of play at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Despite taking home over $5.2 million, Farber says that he will be keeping his night job working as VIP nightlife host saying that the publicity will be good for business. When asked what he will be buying with his new found wealth, Farber says that he will be buying a Ferrari and a new house.
It appears that Farber seems to be keeping true to his promise, earlier this week he was spotted at Exotics Racing last week driving a Ferrari 458 Italia on their 1.2 mile road course. We can only assume that he was using his time at Exotics Racing School as a bit of a test drive. After receiving a block of instructions from the Exotics Racing driving instructors, he went out on the course for 5 laps. Farber had so much fun at Exotics Racing that he even hung out longer to take a driftcar ride along in a Corvette Z06!
While we don’t know exactly what Ferrari Farber will choose to buy, if he does choose buy the Ferrari 458 Italia, he won’t be disappointed. The Ferrari 458 Italia is a rear-wheel drive V-8 capable of producing 560 horsepower with 398 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm, with 80% percent of the torque at 3,250 rpm! The Ferrari 458 Italia is Ferrari’s first naturally aspirated direct fuel injection mid-engine car that delivers a 0-60 in less than 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 202 mph. The 458 Italia is the first volume production Ferrari to break the 200 mph mark. With the type of earnings he made earlier this week, Jay will find the $300,000 price tag to be a steal for such a wonderful car.
Suspended Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito, whose brash behavior has had him in the center of a media firestorm appears to be comfortable continuing to make brash and arrogantly offensive moves. Incognito, who is suspended from football for allegedly bullying teammate Jonathan Martin, who quit the team on October 30, was seen outside his beach-side Fort Lauderdale home taking possession of a brand new black Ferrari FF that was delivered to him by truck from California. Incognito was seen walking around the vehicle several times before caressing the hood, signing papers and eventually taking his new car for a drive.
Just weeks after getting caught speeding in her Bentley, Paris Hilton is at it again, this time partying down in Ibiza with friends. Somewhere during the good times, a close friend of hers thought it was a good idea to lend her his Ferrari F430. Paparazzi snapped this photo of Hilton driving the Ferrari F430 with obvious front nose damage.
There has been some debate to whether the Ferrari was damaged before she drove it or if the damage was done while she was driving it.
This begs the question is she really the type of girl to drive a damaged Ferrari? We definitely know she is the type of girl to damage a Ferrari. Guess we will never know.
