The Ferrari Challenge is a customer interaction program that allows Ferrari customers the opportunity to race their specially built Challenge cars in a structured and competitive environment against other Ferrari owners. The Ferrari Challenge takes place on some of the most challenging tracks in both the United States and Canada. The Ferrari Challenge comes to the famous Watkins Glen racetrack on September 19-21, for a complete weekend of supercar racing, gourmet food and fun filled activities for the entire family. The only requirement to participate in the Ferrari Challenge is ownership of a Ferrari. Ferrari hopes that these sort of engagements help to strengthen the bond between Ferrari owners and the Ferrari brand.
As previously stated on this blog, RM Auctions had announced that Steve McQueen’s 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 would cross their auction block in August. All previous expectations were surpassed when McQueen’s vintage Ferrari took in a rather respectable $9.25 million. Celebrity cars always generate excitement at auction, including those celebrities with Hollywood ties. McQueen is not just a Hollywood icon; his name will always be associated with speed and fast cars.
McQueen was in possession of this 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 for four years before the vehicle was sold to a couple that have done an amazing job of preserving this piece of Hollywood history to include a complete restoration of the GTB/4 that was completed just a few years ago.
Ex-Van Halen front man, Sammy Hagar has a love for cars that includes no less than 6 Ferraris along with several classics to include some very impressive muscle cars. The Red Rocket recently announced that he was one of the 499 who were fortunate enough to get their hands on Ferrari’s newest flagship model, the LaFerrari. Hagar recently flew over to the Maranello factory in Italy to get fitted for the custom cockpit seat. While he was there Hagar also spent time choosing interior and exterior color combinations for his 950 horsepower hybrid.
“I couldn’t be more excited, and I’m buying it to drive it”, says Hagar. “I suspect I might even have to take some more driving courses to really be able to pilot this baby with confidence. From everything I’ve read about the LaFerrari, you need to recalibrate your brain when you get inside”.

During an interview with racing journalist at the British Grand Prix this past weekend, the 2007 World Champion and winner of 20 grands prix, Kimi Raikkonen suggested that 2015 will be his last season racing for Ferrari or anyone else in Formula One. When asked how long he expects to stay in Formula One, Raikkonen answered: “Until my contract is finished, and then I will probably stop. That is what I think is going to happen.”
Raikkonen has been struggling this season with an underperforming car, ranked 12th in the standings, Raikkonen is currently ranked lower than he has finished any season while driving in Formula One. This poor performance has been compounded by the fact that longtime rival and current teammate, Fernando Alonso has managed to secure a 4th place ranking while struggling with the same underperforming equipment.
At 34 years of age, Kimi Raikkonen is the oldest active driver in Formula One. Raikkonen has 3 months of age on Jenson Button and a full year on former teammate Felipe Massa. Considering how many young faces currently make up the Formula One lineup, it’s only natural to start wondering just how long Raikkonen will continue to race.
The windshield less Ferrari one-off named after Pinifarina founder and CEO, Sergio Pinifarina is on display at the Berkeley Hotel Ferrari showroom. The Sergio is a concept made off of the platform of the Ferrari 458 and carries a 4.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine capable of producing 570 horsepower. The Sergio launches from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 199 mph.
Sergio Pinifarina had a long standing relationship with Ferrari and was personally involved in the creation and design of the Ferrari 360, 328 and the F40. In addition to his work with Ferrari, Pininfarina also was involved in the creation of the Cadillac Allante, Benley Azure, and the Maserati Quattroporte. Sergio Pininfarina died in 2012 at the age of 85.
Celebrity auctions are always exciting; people just love owning a piece of Hollywood/Rock N Roll history. Auctions America has announced that they will be auctioning off Rod Stewarts impeccable Ferrari F40 during its Burbank event. Stewart’s F40 is chassis #60 of just 213 US-spec examples ever produced. This particular vehicle has less than 7,900 miles on the odometer along with carbon fiber seats. The F40 is expected to bring in well over a million dollars at auction.
Legendary rocker and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards’s 1972 Ferrari Dino 246GT was recently auctioned by Coys Auciton House. Richards purchased the Dino 246GT in 1972, brought it to the United Kingdom in 1975 and drove it until 1986. In 14 years of ownership, Richards managed to put a total of 25,000 miles on this silver Ferrari. After Richards’s ownership, the Dino 264GT made its way into a private Japanese collection. Finished in Argento silver with a black leather interior and Cromodoro alloys, the mid-engine Dino is powered by a 2.4-liter V6.
Coys Managing Partner, Chris Routledge, says “A Dino offered at no reserve is rare enough in itself and would make this is a highly desirable and collectible item in its own right, but when one adds to this proven long-term ownership by rock and roll aristocracy, the Keith Richards’s car has to be the ultimate Dino and will surely give any car collector and rock enthusiast a great “Satisfaction”!
Hollywood has tried before to create a movie based off of the life of Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari. Back in 2004, director Sydney Pollack and Academy Award winning actor Al Pacino were preparing a Enzo Ferrari biopic, based off Brock Yate’s 1991 book, “Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races.” Unfortunately, Pollack died before production could start and the project was eventually scrapped.
Ten years later, movie magazine Variety reports that Cecchi Gori pictures has entered into advanced talks with a currently unnamed American director who is rumored to be very passionate about the idea of creating a film about Enzo. The script itself has been around for quite some time and was written by Troy Kenedy Martin (“The Italian Job”) and David Rayfield (“Out of Africa”). The production company is currently scouting out locations to shoot the film, revising the script and looking for a distributor.
Cecchi Gori CEO Niels Juul had this to say about the script, “It’s a beautiful tale of the story of Ferrari battling with Maserati for supremacy in speed, yet it’s not a racing movie: it’s a ‘Godfather’ movie with racing in it.”
Jamiroquai front man and bona fide Ferrari nut Jay Kay has built a rather impressive collection of Ferraris over the years to include a special one-off 330GT Vignale, F40, Enzo, 275 GTB/4, two Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinettas, 250 GTE, 550 Maranello and a 16M Scuderia. Jay Kay can now add the newest flagship vehicle to come out of Maranello to his list of amazing supercars as it has been confirmed that Jay Kay has purchased a LaFerrari in a very rare green color. This purchase represents the third new Ferrari he has purchased this year and the sixth Ferrari he has purchased in the last four years! All together the British acid jazz star owns over 60 cars and has no plans on slowing down any time soon.
Jay Kay has always had a love for cars, especially sports cars. His love of cars was expressed with the release of the album Traveling Without Moving. The album’s cover featured an adaptation of the “Buffalo Man” logo and the Ferrari crest. In 2011 he visited Maranello for an exclusive viewing of the then-new Ferrari 458 Spider. Three of his cars appeared in the video for the song Cosmic Girl.
Michael Schumacher is no longer in a coma and has been transferred from the hospital in Grenoble, France, where he has been since his skiing accident last year to a recovery ward at the University Hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland.
“Michael has left…to continue his long phase of rehabilitation,” according to his manager Sabine Kehm.
As in previous statements, Schumacher’s agent asked for the media and fans to respect the privacy of Schumacher and his family as they continue forward with his recovery.
“The family also wishes to thank all the people who have sent Michael all the many good wishes,” Kehm said. “We are sure it helped him. For the future we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye.”
The seven-time Formula One world champion is an avid and experienced skier who suffered severe head trauma as a result of a skiing accident at the French Alps resort of Meribel on December 29. Investigators believe that Schumacher struck a rock that was hidden below the snow while traversing an area between two pistes, which catapulted him face first into another rock.
In early January, a French prosecutor tasked with investigating the accident concluded that speed was not a reason for Schumacher’s fall.
Just when we thought that the situations surrounding the former Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito could not get any more bizarre, Incognito manages to surprise us all by intentionally destroying a brand new Ferrari FF with a baseball bat!
Incognito’s neighbors called police Wednesday morning after discovering his damaged vehicle in front of his house with a piece of the broken bat sticking out of the front grille of the Ferrari along with red shirts draped over the vehicle with Incognito’s name written on them. When the police arrived at the home, the Ferrari and Incognito were both gone. The police gave incognito a call later that day to ask if he wanted to report a crime, which is when he confessed that he did the damage himself in a fit of rage.
When asked by MyFoxPhoenix about the damage he inflicted to the $300,000 car, he said: “Oh that was that was just me venting, that was self expression, that’s a piece of art.” He went on to say “The happiest day of my life was when I got that car and now the second happiest day will be when I donate it to Charity.”
This just proves that not everyone who owns a Ferrari deserves a Ferrari.
The Ferrari FF is a 651 horsepower 6.3-liter V12 capable of delivering a 0-60mph in just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 208 mph.
Known for living a very lavish lifestyle, Mayweather has acquired an extensive car collection to include a white-on-red Ferrari 599 GTB. This prancing pony was the flagship of Ferrari from 2006 until the release of the F12 Berlinetta in 2013. Styled by Pininfarina under the direction of Frank Stephenson, the 599 GTB made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2006. The name 599 comes from the vehicle’s total engine displacement of 5999 cc. This 6.0 liter V12 engine produces over 600 horsepower and over 400 lb-ft or torque. Also known as the FTO Fiorano, this vehicle has an aluminum chassis, body and powertrain bringing the total weight of the vehicle to 3,726 lbs with a powerful six-speed manual or automated manual transmission. The Ferrari 599 GTB completes 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds with a quarter mile finished in less than 11 seconds.
Floyd Mayweather is currently undefeated as a fighter with a record of 45 wins, no losses and 26 wins coming by way of knock out. Mayweather is a five-division world champion, having won eight world titles and the lineal championship in three different weight classes. Mayweather is a two-time Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year (1998 and 2007); he also won the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) Fighter of the Year award in 2007 and the Best Fighter ESPY award in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013.
Floyd Mayweather received his largest payday to date after beating Canelo Alvarez in a stunningly lopsided fight in September. Mayweather received $41.5 million for the fight and approximately the same amount for his cut of the pay-per-view and other promotions making Mayweather the highest paid athlete two years in a row.
Ashton Kutcher, the underwear model turned actor who is best known for his show “Punk’d” on MTV and his role on “Two and a Half Men” has recently delivered his best acting to date in the film adaptation of the life and career of Tech Giant Steve Jobs, titled… well, “Jobs” was recently seen posing next to his very impressive red Ferrari California.
For some reason Kutcher has this “I don’t know what to say” look on his face with his hands out in the “what’s the big deal” gesture. Well, for starters, the big deal could be the fact that he is standing next to a $200,000 supercar that is capable of doing 0-60 in just 3.6 seconds. Or maybe he is just hiding a bad hair day.
Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo has just re-signed with Real Madrid making him one of the highest paid athletes in the world earning more than $23 million a year. With that much extra cash laying around there is always some money to put to good use such as buying a $1.4 Million LaFerrari and becoming one of only 499 people in the world to say that they own Ferrari’s first hybrid supercar (not bad for bragging rights).
The LeFerrari is designed to rival the McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918 Spyder. Having the distinction of being Maranello’s first hybrid, the LaFerrari is supported by two HY-KERS electric motors that assist the LaFerrari’s powerful V12 engine to produce 963 horsepower with a 0-60 in less than 3 seconds and a top speed of over 220 mph!
Ronaldo has long been known as a supercar aficionado. Other supercars that make up his collection include a Ferrari 599 GTO and a Lamborghini Aventador. Not that Ronaldo needs any more cash, but he may find the LaFerrari to be a solid investment when considering that Ferrari’s limited production Enzo has more than quadrupled in price in less than 10 years. When taking into consideration the collectability of a vehicle that is both Ferrari’s first hybrid and first supercar to break 900 horsepower, it’s easy to imagine that the LaFerrari will soar in price before too long.
Screen legends/heartthrobs Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are set to reunite for the first time on the big screen since their 1994 performance in Interview with the Vampire in the film adaptation of AJ Baimes’ book about the 1960s rivalry between the American and Italian racing factories of Ford and Ferrari. This film has been fast-tracked into production after the success of Ron Howard’s film Rush, that depicts the rivalry between Formula 1 drivers Niki Lauda and James Hunt during the 1970s.
Film Director Joseph Kosinski, who recently worked with Cruise on the sci-fi thriller Oblivion, is signed on to direct while Cruise is slated to play Carroll Shelby. No word yet on who Pitt will play. Rumors have swirled around that Pitt was attached to an earlier version of this project originally scheduled to be directed by Michael Mann.
Adrien Brody has an extensive collection of cars ranging from undercover clunkers to top of the line Italian supercars, such as the 460 horsepower Ferrari California. The Ferrari California is possibly the most well-rounded grand touring convertible to ever come out of Maranello. Brody can be seen here using his to grab a hotdog from a street vendor in New York back in 2010.
Adrien Brody is best known for his Academy Award winning performance in “The Pianist”, a film adaptation of the acclaimed “Death of a City” memoir written by a World War II survivor and musician Wladyslaw Szpilman. Other films Brody has been in include Summer of Sam, The Jacket, Predators and Cadillac Records.
A destroyed 1991 Ferrari F40 that was brought back to life by the Gas Monkey Garage crew of the Discovery Channel show Fast ‘N’ Loud has sold at the Barret-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ for a whopping $742,500. Considering that this car only had 7,148 miles on the odometer, this might be considered a good deal to some.
The car, originally painted red, was totaled back in 2011 when a service-center employee crashed into a building, destroying most of the original body work and causing severe damage to the frame. The crew over at the Gas Monkey Garage is rumored to have bought the totaled F40 for $400,000 with the plan to rebuild the Italian supercar to a condition better than when it was originally sold.
This was going to be a challenge to pull off since the F40 was the benchmark for high-performance cars of its time and is still considered one the last true analog high-performance vehicles.
The body damage was repaired with help from Ferrari-certified technicians. Once the bodywork was repaired, the F40 was reborn in a coat of black paint with some sinister HRE three-piece wheels.
The 2.9-liter twin-turbo V8 was upgraded with a Tubi exhaust, rebuilt turbos, aluminum flywheels and a new clutch resulting in a new power output of 550 hp.
Hip hop performing artist Gucci Mane has the unique distinction of being the first person in America to receive shipment a Ferrari 458 Italia back in 2010. Being the first recipient of such a luxury item is a feat that very few have been able to off, including when you consider the selection process that is involved in gaining access to a new Italian supercar. Mane dressed out his 458 Italia in black and yellow Forgiato Opposti wheels to match the color of the car.
The Ferrari 458 Italia officially debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 15 September 2009. This mid-engine V8 packs 562 horsepower at 9,000 rpm with a 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds with a top speed just under 200 mph.
The 1986 Ferrari Testarossa that was driven by Michael Jackson in the 1987 Pepsi commercial “The Chopper” will be up for auction this week at the annual Barret-Jackson event in Scottsdale, Az.
This particular vehicle was converted into a drop-top version for the Pepsi commercial by the R. Starman Company out of Costa Mesa, California. The black Testarossa is powered by a 4.9-liter flat-12 that produces a powerful 390 horsepower and 361lb-feet of torque underneath distinct red valve covers that directly play into the vehicles name Testarossa, which means “red head” in Italian.
The Testarossa is best known for being featured as a supporting actor in the 1980’s hit television series “Miami Vice”. The Testarossa possess a very distinct wide-body shape with obnoxiously exaggerated side intakes that make the Ferrari Testarossa the quintessential ‘80s bad-boy supercar.
